Amanda Ryder founded MJ Ryder in 2006, working from her dining room table. Nearly twenty years on, we're a settled team of heating engineers based at Stoneacre in Knaresborough — Gas Safe registered, Refcom registered, and trusted right across Harrogate, Knaresborough, Ripon and Wetherby.

Amanda Ryder started the business from her dining room table in 2006. Nearly two decades later, MJ Ryder is a proper heating firm with its own premises at Unit 1 Stoneacre in Knaresborough — but it's still run with the same care a business started at a kitchen table tends to have.
Six engineers, trained in-house
We've grown the team steadily — roughly one engineer a year — and trained six heating engineers ourselves. That matters, because it means the person in your home learned the way we work: Gas Safe registered, thorough, and here for the long term. We never sub-contract our installation work to self-employed fitters.
Part of a local family of trades
MJ Ryder shares its Stoneacre home with two sister businesses — Knaresborough Bathrooms and Knaresborough Plumbing Supplies (KPS). Between them we cover heating, bathrooms and the parts to keep it all running, all from one local base in North Yorkshire.
